The plant at Banyeres del Penedès, located 75 km South of Barcelona and built in 1975 on a 20,000 m² area, was acquired by EQ Esteve in 2007. With more than 30 years' experience, the plant specializes in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients and advanced intermediates for national and international markets.
Its approximate annual production is 130 Tons of final product, destined for export to regulated markets, mainly the US and Europe.
The plant works under GMPs and has been regularly audited by the US Food & Drug Administration since 1998 (last inspected in 2006).
The facilities occupy a surface area of 7,000 m². The production plant has a production capacity of 35 m³, extendable to 70 m³ within the current complex, with a range of 2 to 4 m³ (stainless steel and glass-lined) reactors for reactions of -10ºC to 220ºC. as well as a drying warehouse with two rotary vacuum dryers with a capacity of 1.5 i 2 m³. It also has a wastewater treatment plant using physical, chemical and biological treatments. certificació ISO14001 certification granted in 2004.
The plant has a team attached to the R&D department dedicated to research and development processes. This is a modern pilot plant, built in 2001 to meet the most demanding quality standards. Its reaction capacity is 1.75 m³ and is equipped with 0.25 a 0,50 m³, (stainless steel and glass-lined) reactors, a Hastelloy centrifuge and Nutsche filter, and a rotary vacuum dryer with a capacity of 0.35 m³. These facilities also operate under cGMPs.
